The Farmingdale State College Ice Hockey Program currently fields highly competitive teams at the D1 and D2 levels of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). The D1 and D2 Teams are members of the D1 and D2 levels of the Empire Collegiate Hockey Conference (ECHC).
The tremendous success our D2 program has enjoyed since joining the ACHA in early 2005, is a testament to the commitment and dedication of the student-athletes enrolled in Farmingdale State College. This sustained success led to a 2nd place finish at the AAU National Championship last season for our D3 Team and a Top-8 finish for our D2 Team in 2023. Our program’s success and the opportunity provided by the AAU, allowed our program to make the jump to D1 and D2 this season (2023-24).
The success of our program stems from the dedication of our student-athletes, many of whom come predominantly from the surrounding towns and villages of Nassau and Suffolk County; while some travel great lengths from out of state to enjoy the well-rounded academic experience that Farmingdale State College provides. The D1 Team participates in one of the AAU’s premier conferences, along with the program's extremely competitive non-conference schedule, putting Farmingdale in competition against perennial regional and national organizations such as Quinnipiac University, Fairfield University, Binghamton University, University of Georgia, Buffalo State University, and the University at Delaware just to name a few.
The Farmingdale State Hockey Program continues in its quest to maintain a tradition of excellence by recruiting student-athletes of high character, who are committed and dedicated to keeping Farmingdale State at the top of the AAU’s rankings at both the D1 and D2 levels.
