Farmingdale - DII Weekend Preview: Regular Season Finale
In their final game of the regular season, the Farmingdale State Rams Division II hockey team will be traveling to take on the New York Collegiate Hockey Club on Saturday. This final game could have a big impact on where the Rams finish in the Empire Standings. They’re one point behind the Stony Brook Seawolves for the #1 seed in the Black Division. If Stony Brook loses their finale on Friday, the Rams would clinch the #1 seed with a regulation win. If Stony Brook wins, the Rams will be locked into the #2 spot for the Empire Conference Playoffs.
Regardless of the seeding situation, this is a game the Rams will be hungry to win. They were upset by NYCHC at home earlier in the season by way of a 7-5 loss. They’re led by Brandon Avezov, who put up seven points against the Rams in their first meeting. Avezov ranks third amongst Division II players in goals (30), assists (31) and total points (61). Johnny Cotton also provides an ample threat for NYCHC, with 17 goals and 29 total points. The game will take place on Saturday at 10:00 p.m. at the World Ice Arena and can also be viewed on LiveBarn.
