Farmingdale DII - Weekend Recap (10/27 & 10/28)
The Farmingdale State Rams Division II hockey team won each of their first two home games over the weekend, improving to a 10-2 record. Friday's home opener against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights was a game that the Rams completely dominated. A six-goal first period saw James Jensen, Matthew Heinssen, Brendan Dixson (SHG), Nicholas D'Alessandro, Lukas Ferazi (PPG) and Ian Ribarich (PPG) score. The scoring action halted until the 10:11 mark of the third period, when Ribarich scored his second goal of the game. Rutgers got their one and only goal of the game short-handed off of the stick of Kai Inoue. Goals from Peter Abazis and Heinssen later in the period put the exlclamation point on a 9-1 Rams win.
Saturday's game saw Farmingdale take the Stony Brook Seawolves DIII team that was responsible for one of their two losses on the season. D'Alessandro got the Rams going with a goal early into the first period. However, a pair of Seawovles goals scored by Steven Richardson and Brett Kidograd sent the Rams into the first intermission down a goal. Farmingdale would proceed to take command of the game in the second period. D'Alessandro got his second of the game on the power-play to tie things up at the 19:09 mark. Then, Dixson and Jensen provided the Rams with two more goals to go into the third period with a 4-2 advantage. Marcus Lai got the Seawovles a quick goal to start the third period and cut the lead down to one. Ferazi would respond just minutes later wiht a power-play goal to restore the Rams' two-goal lead. Kitograd then scored his second goal of the game midway through the period to again make the game close. But D'Alessandro conmpleted the hat trick at the 6:08 mark of the third to secure a 6-4 Rams victory over the Seawolves.
