The Farmingdale State Rams Division II hockey team played two games over the weekend, resulting in a loss and a draw. Friday's matchup featured the third meeting between the Rams and the Stony Brook Seawolves Division III team. Steven Richardson scored the game's opening and game-winning goal at the 15:29 mark of the first. For the first time this season, the Rams offense did not score a goal. Seawolves' goaltender Gene Castro picked up a 41-save shutout in a game where Farmingdale had six power play opportunities. Tyler Edmonds scored an insurance goal in the third period to secure a 2-0 win for Stony Brook. Despite picking up the loss, Justin DeSaro put up a solid performance in net for the Rams, making 32 saves and only allowing two goals.
On Saturday, the Rams took on the Hofstra Pride Division III team for the third time this season. The Rams found themselves down early due to a pair of Jordan Cox goals scored in the first period. However, just six seconds after Cox's second goal, Ian Ribarich cut the Prides' lead to one. Marco Malandruccolo then scored the game-tying goal at the 10:55 mark of the period. A late third period power play goal from Frank Fezza sent the Pride intermission with a 3-2 lead. Cox opened up scoring in the second period, completing the hat trick to put Hofstra back up by two. After Cox's goal, Luke Richardson and the Rams defense kept the Pride off the scoreboard for the rest of the game. Nicholas D'Alessandro got a goal at the 12:15 mark of the period, sending Farmingdale into the third down just one goal. It was in the third when Jackson Tomforde scored his first goal of the season to tie the game and eventually send it to overtime. Neither team could pick up a goal in the overtime period, resulting in a 4-4 draw between the Pride and the Rams.
