by Justin Miller

The Farmingdale State Rams Division II team took on the Fordham University Rams Division I team in their final home game of the season. Before the game, two of Farmingdale’s seniors were honored for their contributions to the team. The players honored were goaltender Brendan Whelan and captain Brendan Dixson.

Once the game began, Farmingdale got off to a great start. James Jensen buried a pair of goals in the first to give the team a 2-0 lead. In the second, Carmine Pittelli got a power play goal at 7:11 to get Fordham on the board. However, they were quickly countered by Nick Bentrewicz’s first goal of the season while shorthanded. Taking a 3-1 lead into the third period, Farmingdale was bombarded by Fordham’s offensive attack. First, Daniel Koehler struck at the 14:32 mark to bring Fordham within one. Then, Pitelli scored his second power play goal of the game to tie things up at three. Lastly, a pair of goals from Andew Carlson and Anthony DeMario less than a minute apart gave Fordham a two-goal lead of their own. Dixson scored a goal with 40 seconds left to go to try and get Farmingdale back in the game, but they could not find the equalizer. Fordham’s four unanswered goals in the third period secured them a 5-4 victory over Farmingdale in this one.
