Weekend Preview: Farmingdale - DII Faces Stony Brook University and the University of New Haven
The Farmingdale State Rams DII hockey team has kicked off the new season red-hot. They’re undefeated in their six games played thus far and are hoping to keep the momentum going into this weekend of play. Awaiting the Rams are two more road games against Stony Brook’s DIII team on Friday and New Haven’s DIII team on Saturday.
Friday's meeting of Long Island rivals will feature a battle between undefeated clubs. The Seawolves have gotten off to a 2-0 start thanks to a high-scoring attack. They put up six goals against Maritime and eight goals against Fairfield. Their leading scorer is Steven Richardson, who put up two goals and three assists across their two games. In addition to Richardson, Stony Brook has four other players with two goals in the early going. The Rams went 2-1 against the Seawolves last season, winning both contests by 8+ goals. The game will take place at Islanders Iceworks at 7:30 p.m. and can be viewed on LiveBarn.
The University of New Haven Chargers will be entering Saturday’s game having only played in one game thus far. That one game was an impressive 6-5 victory over Salisbury’s DII team. Michael Pilato put up five points in the win, with Peter Richetelli scoring a hat-trick. The Rams went 2-2 against the Chargers last season, with three of the four games being decided by one goal.
