Weekend Preview: Farmingdale - DII Faces the University of Rochester and St. John Fisher University

by Justin Miller

The Farmingdale State Rams - DII will play two road games this weekend, one against the University of Rochester’s DIII team on Saturday and another against St. John Fisher University on Sunday.

Farmingdale is coming off a triumphant 5-3 victory over Fordham’s DI team. The win marks the Rams’ fourth of the new season, giving them an early lead in the Empire Conference standings. The team has been fueled by Brendan Dixson’s outstanding nine goals and 14 total points across these first four contests. Rochester has gotten off to a 1-1 start to their season. They won their home opener 4-2 over Widener University but lost a 3-2 game on the road against Hofstra University in their most recent game. Zachary Nowak has been the Yellowjackets best performer with a team-high three goals and four points. The Yellowjackets will be looking to improve from the 2022-23 season which saw them finish with a 5-11 record. Saturday’s game will start at 7:00 PM and will be available to watch on LiveBarn.

St. John Fisher University will be playing their third game in a row when they host the Rams. The Cardinals lost their season opener against Binghamton's D1 team at a 6-1 final score. Last year’s 15-goal-scorer Brandon Makowski provided the Cardinals’ only goal in the contest. They’ll be looking to get back on track after finishing second in the Upper New York Conference last season. The last time these two teams met was in the DIII National Championship final last season. St. John Fisher won that meeting in an 8-1 rout over Farmingdale. The Rams will be hungry for redemption heading into this next meeting against the Cardinals. Sunday’s game will start at 1:00 PM and will be available to watch on LiveBarn.
