Weekend Preview: Farmingdale - DII hosts Rutgers and Stony Brook

The Farmingdale State Rams Division II hockey team will make their long-awaited home debut with back-to-back home games. First, they'll face off against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in their home opener on Friday. Rutgers is currently sitting in fourth place in the Empire Conference with a 2-4 record. The Scarlet Knights are powered by a strong offensive attack that averages 5.7 goals per game. Christian Hoppeler leads the team with 11 points, while Ryan Hille and Gavin Rieger are tied for the team lead in goals with six each. Friday's game will mark the first-ever meeting between Farmingdale and Rutgers. The game will take place at Islanders Iceworks at 9:30 p.m. and can be viewed on LiveBarn. 

In the second of their two home games, Farmingdale will take on the Stony Brook Seawolves Division III team on Saturday. The Seawolves are led by Nikita Vorotnikov, who has six goals and a team-leading 11 points. Lucas Puccia and Steven Richardson have also scored six goals for the Seawolves thus far. Farmingdale lost their only matchup against Stony Brook in a 6-3 game that saw Vorotnikov score a hat trick. The Rams will be eager to avenge one of their only two losses of the season in this second meeting of Long Island rivals.
